Br. Safi Khan

Board Member

My name is Safi Khan, and I have lived in San Diego since 1995. My wife, Nadya Khan, and I, along with our 12-year-old daughter, Amani, have been deeply connected to MCC since its inception in 2001. We are proud supporters of MCC and its mission to serve our community.
I previously served on the MCC Board of Directors from 2010 to 2012, beginning as Vice Chair and later as Chairman for two years. During my tenure, MCC reached a historic milestone—breaking ground for the construction of its permanent home in Santaluz. At that time, MCC operated from various rented spaces, and I was honored to play a role in ensuring a smooth transition. One initiative I take particular pride in is the use of on-site trailers for Jumu’ah prayers during construction. This allowed the community to stay connected to their future masjid, witness its progress firsthand, and strengthen fundraising efforts.
My vision for MCC is to ensure it remains a welcoming, inclusive, and spiritually enriching space—where our youth feel connected, our elders are valued, and every member of our community finds a place of belonging. I will focus on expanding MCC’s services, fostering a culture of respect and inclusivity, and addressing the evolving needs of our growing community.
My prior experience managing center operations while overseeing construction aligns perfectly with MCC’s next phase of growth. With the anticipated expansion of Al Manar School, the covered courtyard for Jumu’ah prayers, and the development of the two-acre parking lot, I bring valuable insight into balancing day-to-day operations with large-scale projects for the next three years.
Professionally, I have over 30 years of leadership, management, and strategic planning experience. I am committed to applying my skills, along with my core values of honesty, integrity, and accountability, to take MCC’s service to the next level.
